<p>West Central Ohio's strategic position on Interstate 75, and the strong work ethic of this region, make it a perfect location for Tier I and Tier II suppliers to the assembly plants of Ford, General Motors, Chrysler and Honda.<br>
West Central Ohio is also home to many of the largest petrochemical companies in the United States. Marathon Petroleum, BP Chemicals, Premcor Lima Refinery, BOC Gases and Akzo Nobel Chemicals are a large part of our industrial atmosphere.<br>
West Central Ohio is also known for the manufacture of many things in addition to automotive and petrochemical products. In fact, every football ever used in an NFL Super bowl game was made right there in Ohio's heartland.<br>
A sizable Japanese business community exists in the West Central Ohio region with companies such as Bridgestone Corporation, Toyo Roki, G.S. Eletech, Molten Corporation, Nissin Corporation, NOK Corporation and Sanoh Industries, all maintaining subsidiaries or business operations in the area.<br>

<p><b><font color="#990000">Wittenberg University<br></font></b>Founded in 1845, Wittenberg is a nationally ranked liberal arts and sciences university located in Springfield, Ohio that covers about .5 square kilometers. With a student body of 2,000, Wittenberg is the right size for offering valuable academic and co-curricular options with better teaching and personal attention. Wittenberg is known for its strong interdisciplinary programs such as East Asian Studies and Central Eurasian Studies. Although Wittenberg's traditional strengths have been in the liberal arts, recently the sciences, business and education have also developed into popular majors for students. Wittenberg has long established relationships with Kansai Gaikokugo University and Sophia University (Jochi Daigaku).</p>
<p>Wittenberg is currently looking to attract more degree-seeking students from Japan and is offering scholarships ranging from $7,000 to full tuition for top achieving students. Those students interested in applying for full tuition must be a Japanese citizen, be in the top 5% of their graduating class, and score a minimum of 1890 on the SAT (630 in each verbal, writing, and math sections). Scholarships are also available for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate university who want to study abroad for up to 1 year.</p>
<p>Wittenberg is actively seeking opportunities for its students majoring in East Asian Studies to participate in internship programs in Japanese companies or organizations.</p>
