<p><font color="#990000"><b>Ohio's Key Industries: Advanced Energy and Environmental Technologies</b></font></p>
<p>In May 2008, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland signed into law an Advanced Energy Portfolio Standard (AEPS) that requires at least 25% of new electricity sold in Ohio to be generated from advanced energy technology by 2025 - with a minimum of 12.5% from renewable energy resources. The AEPS has helped create thousands of jobs and enabled growth of the advanced and renewable energy industry which encompasses solar, wind, biomass, fuel cells, hydroelectricity. Ohio companies such as First Solar and Xunlight have developed into world leaders in the solar industry, and the state has utilized its strong manufacturing base to become a leading supplier for the US wind industry.</p>
