農業および食品加工産業についてご紹介させていただきます。

In this section we usually introduce an Ohio company looking to promote its
products in Japan but this month, we would like to introduce one of Ohio's
"key" industries: Agriculture and Food Processing.

*農業および食品加工産業*

オハイオ州の農業および食品加工産業は農場の運営、種苗生産、農薬開発、農耕機械の開発・製造、食品の加工、そして流通、小売、マーケティングと川上から川下まですべてのエリアをカバーしています。オハイオ州が生産から加工まで、すべての領域において強みを持っているのはオハイオ州がグレインベルトと呼ばれる米国でも有数の穀倉地帯と東海岸のマーケットとの間の非常に戦略的な場所に位置していることによります。オハイオ州には７６５００もの農場があり、それは１４００万エーカー、つまり州全体の約５５％を占めています。また、オハイオ州は農作物、畜産物の生産量では米国の２％を担っているに過ぎませんが、農業製品の販売額という意味では米国で１８番目にランクされています。また、オハイオ州は栄養補強食品の分野においても常にリーダーシップを発揮しています。

*Agriculture and Food Processing Industry
*Ohio's agriculture and food processing industry represents all elements of
food processing and production including farming, seed supply,
agrichemicals, farm machinery production, wholesale and distribution,
processing, marketing and retail sales. Ohio's strategic location between
the grain belt and Eastern markets brings together all of the elements that
comprise food production and underlies Ohio's strength in food processing.
The state’s 76,500 farms cover more than 14 million acres - nearly 55
percent of the total land area. Although responsible for only 2 percent of
the nation's crop and livestock production, the state ranks 18th in value of
total agricultural products sold. The state is also a leader in the
specialized nutraceutical food production industry.
